Doctoral Research: My thesis explores the relationship between Victorian politics and the adaptations of popular novels on the nineteenth-century stage. I am particularly interested in how omissions, editions, and revisions in stage versions of novels reveal deeper concerns with local and international affairs, and how adaptation as a historical phenomenon has informed modern versions of the same practice.
