Doctoral Research: My thesis is entitled 'Troll Sex: Youth, Old Age, and the Erotic in Old Norse-Icelandic Narratives of the Supernatural.' In this dissertation, I examine the intersections of characters' genders and ages with their sexual identities in medieval Icelandic saga literature, paying especial attention to the limina of adolescence and menopause. To access the potentially uncomfortable subjects of sexuality in infancy and extreme old age, I examine depictions of supernatural figures, including troll children, elderly witches, and sexually aggressive ghosts.
