Doctoral Research: My thesis project is (tenatively!) entitled "Witnessing Pain: Samuel Beckett and Post-War Francophone Theatre". It explores how Samuel Beckett's early theatre interrogates the experience of witnessing and responding to another individual's physical pain in the aftermath of World War II, set in context with other Francophone playwrights including Eugene Ionesco, Albert Camus, Marguerite Duras, Arthur Adamov and Pablo Picasso.
